Sodium Bromide
Mid-density completion fluid salt — up to 12.5 lb/gal as single salt. Available in solid (99%) and pre-dissolved liquid (45%) forms.
Overview
Sodium bromide is the mid-range density completion fluid chemical, bridging the gap between sodium chloride (~10.0 lb/gal max) and calcium bromide (14.2 lb/gal max). For operations where moderate density is required but the higher cost and corrosivity of calcium bromide are not justified, NaBr is the standard choice. Five Rivers Materials supplies sodium bromide in both solid and pre-dissolved liquid forms.
In practice, sodium bromide is most often used in blends — saturating a sodium chloride brine to lift its density, or paired with calcium bromide in CaBr₂/NaBr systems where chloride incompatibility with the formation must be avoided. We stock at Houston, Long Beach, and Dubai with FCL pricing for continuous-supply contracts.
